What is CRO?
Conversion Rate Optimisation is about understanding your customers better. Providing them with a better experience, helping them to complete their desired action, quickly and easily.
What is a good conversion rate?
There is no such thing as a good conversion rate. Obviously, if you are converting below 5% essentially 95% of your traffic is not interested in your service or product. A good conversion rate is improving your previous state.
Is the conversion rate the main metric of success?
No. You could sell your service or product for $1 and your conversion rate will go through the roof. You'll probably be out of business within a month too. It is why personally, I hate the name CRO.
CRO is basically evidenced-based marketing, utilising data, insights to increase the amount of money you make with the traffic you have. Improving metrics such as bounce rate, conversion rate, time on site are good indicators to improving macro metrics such as leads/sales and revenue.
